Starting in the pandemic year, Linn Phipps and Doug Huggins have been live-singing together every week as “SiIlertides” at virtual singarounds, folk festivals and workshops. We are traditional singers, singing conversation songs together – on opposite sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Doug plays many instruments, Linn also sings in Scottish Gaelic. In 2021, the Sillertides released a debut album, Silk and Leather.
This four-track EP features four of our favourite songs with a sea theme. Norland Wind is the first song we ever sang together. And when we were seeking a name for our duo, The Wind’s line about sillertides seemed to us to fit us best. We have posted a number of other favourite song videos on our Youtube channel: bit.ly/3hzmYNC.
